Au Revior 2015

31 December 2015

*Goals for 2016*

To get good grades

I feel that I have put so much effort and attention. At this very moment in time it is one of the most important thing in my life. I can't wait to be holding the scroll and say I made it. But I've still got quite a bit before I get there. Good Luck to me! (I'm going to need it).

To be happy

This may seen really obvious. But it is not that easy for me to say that I am happy a lot of the time. Because that wouldn't be true.

Give my room more character

I want to give it more of a minimal feel. Which leads me to my next goal...

To declutter my mind

My brain is filled with so much rubbish and unnecessary information that its taking up space for things I generally need to remember. Important things. I also want to detox regularly and clear my mind and body.

Take better photographs and learn more about photography

In terms of a professional career in fashion and because I am just curious, I want to know more. (More than the basics because right now it is a foreign language).

 Travel More

There is so much to discover and learn and I just want to get out of my little bubble and explore the different possibilities out there

Be organised!!

This has always been my downfall. For some odd reason my brain discards any sort of order and does what it wants but not anymore

Hope you all have a happy new year xo

LUSH BATH BOMBS

26 December 2015

When ever I walk past or go into a LUSH store, the lovely aromas fill my nose. I suddenly feel a whole lot calmer, I don't know why. (Maybe it's my safe place). I recently got an early Christmas present from a lovely friend and already I have used them both. GUILTY! Firstly had to use the cinder bath bomb; (with it's bright and pretty colours) which gave off a cool citrus scent and I found the little crystallised popping candy to be the most exciting part. Cinders bath bomb also has added Almond Oil to replenish moisture back into your skin x

I also got the Stardust bath bomb, which was by far my favourite. I just made me feel really Christmassy. I love the combination of a scent with an enriching oil that will benefit from. It is no different in this case. Rosewood is one my most loved fragrance, it is a very warm and inviting scent. As you can tell I was sold when I heard that it was included, it also features fairtrade Vanilla... and who doesn't like vanilla.

Check out the full bath bomb range

What bath bombs or amazing LUSH products have you bought this Christmas?

Be sure to see some mush LUSH reviews up soon!

Date Night: May the force be with you

23 December 2015

My friend if you have been leaving under a massive rock for the last few months. You would not have heard that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now. I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it yet. But I may have been so engrossed in the film that my lap was filled with popcorn. So good.

I couldn't wait to watch it, and I thought I would dress up a little for the occasion, a little micro-trend for the people who couldn't leave the summer behind: dressing down your pretty frocks by wearing a shirt or roll neck jumper underneath. I love a good layering look, I also opted for my trusty camel coat (that I purchased from a charity shop) that made the full outfit look more put together.

Christmas Proof Party hair

21 December 2015

You may be running around like a headless turkey this Christmas (did you see what I did there),I know I do and before you know it it's time to get ready for the big day. But last minute you remember you hair is a hot mess. Not to worry because that is where I come in! This easy, simple, quick guide will have you looking like a beach wavy goddess in the middle of December. Lets get to it ...

You will need:

  • A wide tooth comb
  • A curling iron
  • Heat protective spray
  • Holding hair spray
  • A couple of hairbands
  • Moisturising hair cream or serum

1.Use your wide tooth comb to detangle your hair.

2. Take you hair bands and section your hair straight down the middle

3. Then section again and tie up each section leaving one out. (The section you plan on curling first).

4. Next, Use a light heat spray for your hair. I have chosen the VO5 heat protect spray that I swear by because it is not too heavy but doesn't damage your hair under any heat.

*Tip* Make sure you spray the tip and roots of your hair, as they are usually forgotten.

5. Then you will begin curling. I am using the Babyliss curling Iron, which has a clamp for easy application. It create definite curls with not alot of heat. Fab

I do prefer using my Remington Sapphire Pro Wand

6. Then begin to curl, as we are going for the beach waves look. Don't curl the ends of your hair leave about 1 inch off the bottom.

7. Begin to curl all the way to the roots and hold for 6-8 seconds

8. You first curl should look something like this ...

9. Then continue the steps around your entire head. I tend to leave half and inch off the back of my head.

10. Cute hair pending ....

11. When you get to the front sections, take out two smaller sections and curl to get a fuller look.

12. Rub some hair moisturiser (I've chosen Cantu Shea butter which keep my hair feeling soft and tangle-free)  or serum into your hair when you have finished curling. Then a bit of hairspray for hold.

As you can tell I love my VO5 products

There you go.

You are ready to par-tay

University Files: PRE-COLLECTION

18 December 2015

Ive started a new series called: UNIfiles, to show you all my experiences, the sort of work I do as a fashion student and how I am finding my last year in general x

If I could express how these last few months has tested my patience, allowed me to become frustrated with myself, made me hate everything that these 'creative' hands had created. Then we can talk. I am currently studying a bachelors degree in the artys fartys course of Fashion. It really bothers me when people claim that fashion students just prance around in nice clothes and get invited to fashion shows. Let me just clear this up quickly... we do not. If you understood how much blood, sweat and tears it takes this make these garments. Just like any university course (or work in general) there is a lot of hard work involved. When I began brainstorming for my collection, I figured that i wanted to be the sort of the designer that didn't take everything so damn seriously. I want to make clothes that are fun, playful and carefree.  I ended on the looking at an artist called Zoe Buckman and her collection: every Curve. where she took lyrics from the famous rappers of the 90s - Tupac and Biggie. She then embroidered them on 1950s vintage lingerie pieces. My fabric direction was influenced by the artist Nadine Geopfert how used spongy memory foam and foam to create clothes. I then took the message from Zoe Buckman's work; which I found to be misogynistic, degrading and sometimes quite violent towards women. Running with this whole theme I choose to use female sexual organs as the main focus (because there has always been a certain taboo around female body parts). Further down the line I combined the embroidery aspect and sponge-like materials to anatomical images to female sexual organs. Somehow, (by some sort of mystical power I believe) I finished the garments and he they are. Bring on the final collection, where I will probably need something stronger than coffee but less intense then coke.

Every image with an asterisks underneath is my own
